Teen Killed, 11 Wounded In Shootings Since Tuesday Morning, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings left an 18-year-old man dead and 11 other people wounded on the South and West Sides between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, police said.

• The fatal shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. Tuesday near Washington Park.

• Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old boy was shot in his chest in McKinley Park.

• Most recently, around 4:10 a.m., a 39-year-old man was driving in the 7500 block of South Chappel Avenue when a man wearing a baseball cap and a white shirt shot at him from the street, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man got out of his car and ran to Jackson Park Hospital, Lemmon said, where he was listed in good condition with a graze wound in his back.

• About 2 a.m., a 30-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were shot in the 6400 block of South King Drive, the same Woodlawn block where 16-year-old De'Kayla Dansberry was stabbed to death on May 14, police said.

The woman was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition after being shot in her back, Lemmon said. The man was brought to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition with a graze wound.

Police said they could not provide any other information about the shooting, as the man did not cooperate with authorities.

• Less than 10 minutes earlier, a 25-year-old woman was sitting in a car in the 500 block of North Kedzie Avenue in East Garfield Park when she was grazed on the top of her head by a bullet, Lemmon said.

The woman was brought to Norwegian Hospital, Lemmon said, where she was listed in good condition.

Police said the woman did not cooperate with authorities.

• Around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday night, a 34-year-old man was walking in the 3800 block of West 19th Street in North Lawndale when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Lemmon said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Lemmon said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• About 30 minutes earlier, a "highly intoxicated" 25-year-old man was shot in his hand in the 5900 block of South Campbell Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police said.

The man was brought to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Lemmon said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member and he did not cooperate with authorities.

• Around 7:20 p.m., two men were sitting on a porch in the 800 block of North Lorel Avenue in Austin when a group of men came out of a nearby alley and one of them fired shots, police said.

One man, 18, was shot in his back, and the other, 19, was shot in his left leg, police said. Both were brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were "stable."

• At 3:55 p.m., a 45-year-old man was standing at the corner of Harrison Street and California and California Avenue in East Garfield Park when someone walked up and shot at him before running away, police said.

• Around 2:30 p.m., a 31-year-old man was standing in the 4700 block of South Ada Street in Back of the Yards when someone jumped out of a nearby car and shot at him, police said.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, police said, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his foot.

No one is in custody, police said.
