MCKINLEY PARK — A 16-year-old bystander was shot in his chest during a drive-by shooting in McKinley Park Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Around 5:30 p.m., the boy was standing in an alley near the 3300 block of South Hamilton Avenue when someone inside a white van fired shots at a red SUV in the street, according to Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Police said the boy did not appear to be the intended target of the shooting.

The teen was taken to Stroger Hospital, Quaid said. Police could not provide the boy's condition but said he was "stable."

No one is in custody, police said.
