CHICAGO — Fans of Morrissey are well aware of the musician's tendency to cancel tour dates without much warning.
Just days after Riot Fest announced he'd play the Douglas Park festival this September, the Moz is once again confusing fans.
On his Facebook page May 18, he confirmed that he'd play the festival. But on Monday, his official fan site released this brief statement: "As of this date (May 23), Morrissey is not a part of this year's Chicago Riot Fest."
Riot Fest did not immediately respond requests for comment.
Morrissey has canceled at least 12 tours over the years, according to Consequence of Sound. Even when Riot Fest announced the lineup, fans on social media were skeptical:
What are the odds Morrissey will actually play Riot Fest tho?... (not buying a ticket yet not buying a ticket yet not buying a ticket yet..)

@dhinkel That was my thought on Morrissey. You'd get better odds putting "a double-rainbow" in the Riot Fest lineup.
