LITTLE VILLAGE — A 42-year-old man was shot in his ankle while walking in Little Village Monday night, police said.

Around 9 p.m., the man was walking in the 2100 block of South Fairfield Avenue when someone jumped out of a dark-colored van and shot at him, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Lemmon said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, Lemmon said.
