HYDE PARK — Whole Foods will open in Hyde Park on June 22, the grocer announced on Wednesday.

Whole Foods will open its 30,300-square-foot store at 9 a.m. in the City Hyde Park development at 5118 S. Lake Park Ave.

The store is the anchor tenant in the $114 million development designed by architect Jeanne Gang and has been in the works for over three years, after scaling back initial designs during the economic recession.

Marshalls is expected to open on Thursday in the development, followed later this year by Michael’s.

The Hyde Park store will be the grocery chain’s 11th in Chicago, with a 12th expected to open in Englewood in the fall.

Whole Foods is celebrating the opening of the Hyde Park store with gift cards ranging from $5 to $50 for the first 500 customers. One customer selected at random will receive a $500 gift card.
