WEST LOOP — One of the West Loop's newest restaurants is giving away free pizza Wednesday afternoon.
The new Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana, located at 1048 W. Randolph St., will host a free pizza happy hour on their new patio from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday.
Guests can choose their own complimentary Neapolitan-style pizza, which includes the Margherita, with San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella, basil and pecorino romano (normally $15) and the Marinara, with San Marzano tomatoes, oregano, fresh garlic, sea salt and basil (normally $11).
Free pizzas are one per person and dine-in only. Free pizzas will only be served on the patio, weather permitting.
Drink specials will include an $8 Campari spritzer, an $8 Aperol Fizz, $8 glasses of prosecco and $5 Peronis.
The pizzas will be made in the Forno Rosso Pizzeria's wood-burning oven and the Zero Ottantuno mobile pizzeria's catering oven and served on the restaurant's 60-seat patio on Randolph Street.
Specializing in traditional Neapolitan-style thin crust pizzas and modeled after the original Forno Rosso on Harlem Avenue in Dunning, owner Nick Nitti opened the Randolph Street Forno Rosso opened earlier this spring.
Nitti, who is of Italian descent and lived in Italy for many years, returned to Naples in 2012 to study the art of Pizza Napoletana and trained under one of Napoli's best Pizzaiolos. After completing certifications, Nitti returned to Chicago to open Forno Rosso Pizzeria Napoletana in Dunning in 2014.
Forno Rosso's Randolph restaurant is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-Midnight Friday and Saturday.
