CHICAGO — Police have arrested a man who has been seen loitering at two North Side elementary schools.

Piermario Molinelli, 24, was arrested after police identified him as the man who on April 19 visited Ravenswood Elementary, 4332 N. Paulina St., police said in a news release.

On May 5, Molinelli was also seen at McPherson Elementary, 4728 N. Wolcott Ave., according to police.

Parents and police said Molinelli, of the 5300 block of North Glenwood Avenue in Andersonville, was acting suspiciously while walking around the school playgrounds. His presence at the schools promoted police to issue a community alert Tuesday.

At Ravenswood's playground, the man walked up to a group of children and a parent, claiming to be a movie star and asking about the school's hours, according to police. The parent walked him off the lot.

At McPherson, the man walked around the playground saying "Hi" to the children and claimed to be inspecting the equipment when confronted by an adult, according to police.

The man left the playground but was later seen walking around the area.

In each case, Molinelli entered the playgrounds despite fences as well as signs indicating that only authorized personnel were allowed, police said.

He has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass to state land.

Because he has been charged with misdemeanors, Molinelli will not appear in court until June 30, police said.
