ROSCOE VILLAGE — There's a new club coming to Roscoe Village, but you have to be on an exclusive list to get in.
About two years after opening in Lincoln Park, Birch Road Cellar — a members-only social club — announced plans to open a second location Wednesday.
Neighbors can learn more about the new location at an open house Saturday, from 6-9 p.m., at the Lincoln Park club. To get the private address, folks must RSVP by emailing openhouse@birchroadcellar.com. There's a limited amount of RSVP slots available.
The new club will function a lot like the one in Lincoln Park: Members can either bring in booze or store a stockpile in a personal locker and host social gatherings. It's like a bar — minus the drinks for sale and the undesireable strangers.
“Roscoe Village has the same close-knit community that we love about Lincoln Park. It’s a perfect fit for our vision of a casual and relaxed private club,” said co-owner Kim Bosse in a prepared statement.
Bosse and her longtime friend and co-owner Sharon Provins founded Birch Road Cellar to provide a "third place" for folks who don't want to go to a noisy bar or drink at home.
“We’re older, but still like going to bars. There are still a lot of good bars out there, and it’s fun. But you don’t always want to go to a bar. It’s for those times when me and my husband — we have two kids — go out to dinner and it’s just the two of us. We might not want to go to a bar, but we don’t want to go home, either," Bosse previously said.
The new club is expected to open at the end of summer.
