Near West Side Shooting Injures 2 People, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in the Near West Side left a man and woman injured on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

At 2:18 p.m., a 27-year-old woman and 44-year-old man were sitting in a car in the 2100 block of West Jackson when someone walked up and opened fire on them, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The woman was hit in her arm and hip, and the man was hit in his hip, Tannehill said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were not released but they were listed as "stable," Tannehill said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody.
