2 Dead, 16 Wounded In Citywide Shootings Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO— Two people are dead and 16 are wounded from shootings across Chicago since Saturday, police said. 

At 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, police found a 24-year-old man in a car in the 3200 block of West Douglas Boulevard in North Lawndale who was dead, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. 

At 9 p.m. Saturday in the 114th block of South Stewart Street in Roseland, a 23-year-old woman was shot in the head, Sedevic said. She was taken in critical condition to Roseland Hospital where she later died. 

Non-fatal shootings of note:

At 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the right arm in the 6000 block of North Pulaski Road in Sauganash, Sedevic said. 

At 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, a 36 year-old male was shot multiple times in the 8700 block of South Honore Street in Auburn Gresham by someone in a yellow sedan, Sedevic said.

At 1:05 a.m. on Sunday, a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 3200 block of West Maypole Avenue in East Garfield Park, Sedevic said.

At midnight on Sunday, a 33-year-old man checked himself into Mt. Sinai stating he had been shot, Sedevic said. The man was in the 600 block of North Christiana Avenue in East Garfield Park and stated someone walked up to him and opened fire, Sedevic said. 

At 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, a 21-year-old man was shot in the buttocks when someone in a red SUV fired shots in the 5100 block of West Madison Street in South Austin, Sedevic said. 

At 9 p.m. on Saturday, two men, 27 and 24, were wounded in the same Roseland shooting in which a woman died, Sedevic said. 

At 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, a 17-year-old boy was riding a bicycle in the 8800 block of South Exchange Avenue when someone shot him in the hip, Sedevic said.

At 5 p.m. on Saturday, a 29-year-old man received a graze wound to the left hand and a 22-year-old man was shot in the left leg in the 800 block of North Avers Avenue in West Humboldt Park, Sedevic said.

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were sitting on the porch in the 0-100 block of East 100th Street when someone in a dark-colored van shot at them, Sedevic said. 

No one is in custody for the shootings, Sedevic said.
