CHICAGO — Five people were hurt, one critically, in shootings around the city between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, police said.

A 23-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot "numerous times" while driving in Canaryville Tuesday evening, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Earlier that afternoon, police said, a man shot himself in his leg in Little Village.

At 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, a 29-year-old man was standing in the 1600 block of South St. Louis Avenue in North Lawndale when someone jumped out of a nearby car and shot at him, Sedevic said.

The man brought himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Sedevic said.

The shooting occurred about a half-mile from the block where police fatally shot 16-year-old Pierre Loury, and about a mile away from the protest that followed Tuesday evening.

Earlier, around 7:30 p.m., two 17-year-olds were walking in the 8100 block of South Kingston Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood when someone shot at them out of a passing black sedan, Sedevic said.

One of the teens was shot in his left hand, police said, and the other was shot in his right hand.

Both were brought to South Shore Hospital, Sedevic said, where they were listed in good condition.

No one is in custody, police said.
