CANARYVILLE — A 23-year-old man was shot multiple times while driving on the Near South Side Tuesday night, police said.

Around 9:30 p.m., the man was driving in the 4100 block of South Halsted Street when someone shot at him from a nearby red Dodge Durango, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, Sedevic said, after being shot "numerous times" in his arms and torso. He was listed in critical condition.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, Sedevic said.
