South Loop Cellphone Store Hit By Pepper-Spraying Robbers, Police Say

SOUTH LOOP — A South Loop Boost Mobile store is now among the ranks of cellphone shops to be hit by a couple of robbers who pepper spray the clerk before stealing merchandise, police said.

Three cellphone stores were robbed and their clerks pepper sprayed between Thursday and Saturday, police said Sunday. Now police have said another store was robbed at 10:50 p.m. March 29 in the 1100 block of South Delano Court.

During the robberies, men go into the stores, walk up to the counters, pepper spray the clerk, rob the store and run away, according to police. 

The thieves are described as two black men, 20 to 30 years old, who are 5-foot-8 to 6-foot tall. One weighs about 130 pounds and the other about 300 pounds, police said. One of the men wore a long black wig parted down the middle, police said.

A pair of men have also been targeting drunk men Downtown, sometimes using mace during the robberies, police said.
