Robbers Pepper-Spraying Cellphone Store Clerks During Holdups, Police Say

CHICAGO — Robbers pepper-sprayed cellphone store clerks during three separate hold-ups of Boost Mobile shops on the Southwest Side last week, police said Sunday.

In each case, two robbers walked into the store and pepper-sprayed a clerk before grabbing merchandise and running out, police said.

The incidents occurred at:

• 12:50 p.m. Thursday at 5123 S. Kedzie Ave.

• 8:50 p.m. Thursday at 6434 S. Pulaski Road

• 2:22 p.m. Saturday at 6659 S. Cicero Ave.

The robbers were described as black men ages 20-30, 5-foot-8 to 6-foot tall, one around 130 pounds and the other around 300 pounds. One was wearing a long black wig parted down the middle, police said.
