THE LOOP — Police are warning Downtown residents about a rash of new robberies against drunk men in the Loop. In one case the robbers maced the victim, police said.

In the robberies, a pair of men targeted drunk men as they walked Downtown at night, robbing the men of their wallets and cellphones, police said. One victim told police he was sprayed with mace by one of the robbers.

The robberies occurred:

• At 4:30 a.m. March 13 in the 300 block of South State Street

• At 11:45 p.m. March 16 in the first block of North Wells Street

• At 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of West Jackson Boulevard

One suspect is described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-3 black man age 40-55 and weighing between 180-200 pounds. The other suspect is described as a 6-foot-1 black man age 30-34 weighing approximately 200 pounds.

Police advise residents to remain aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity. Anyone with information on the alleged crimes is asked to call detectives at 312-747-8384.
