EDGEWATER — Six months after Edgewater's favorite yarn octopus made its final appearance on North Broadway, a new art studio focusing on paint-your-own-pottery projects is set to open.

A sign sitting in the window where Sifu Designs' knitted orange octopus sat before it closed earlier this year declares RAM Art Studio will open by June.

The shop at 6054 N. Broadway sits next to Lickity Split Frozen Custard and sees high foot traffic, but the seasonal highs and lows of the yarn industry forced beloved Sifu to rebrand as an online store.

Now, the Broadway storefront is ready to breathe new life as an art studio dedicated to pottery painting, ceramics workshops, glass-fusing and more.

The studio will also be available to rent for private workshops and parties, and plans to hold early childhood and after-school programs.

In February, Aartwerk Studios, a BYOB group painting studio and art school, opened just up the street at 1141 W. Granville Ave.

RAM's owner could not be reached for comment.
