Bar Bouncer Among 14 People Wounded in Shootings Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Fourteen people were hurt in shootings across the city between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, including a bar bouncer critically wounded in Irving Park, police said.

The bouncer, 51, was hit in his head by a stray bullet late Saturday night, police said.

Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, two people were shot while sitting on a porch in Humboldt Park, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Around the same time, Estrada said, a 17-year-old was shot in his thigh while walking in Little Village.

• Most recently, around 5:40 a.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man was sitting in a car in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street in West Garfield Park when someone shot him in his face, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Estrada said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the man is a documented gang member, and he was not cooperating with authorities.

• Around 11:35 p.m. Saturday night, Estrada said, a 24-year-old man was walking in the 3400 block of West 73rd Street in the Marquette Park neighborhood when a man walked up behind him and shot him in his back.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Estrada said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

• At 8:50 p.m., a 22-year-old man accidentally shot himself in his leg in the 9000 block of South Burley Avenue in South Chicago, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Estrada said, where he was listed in good condition.

• Around 6:25 p.m., two men were walking in the 300 block of South Pulaski Road in West Garfield Park when someone shot at them from behind, Estrada said.

One of the men, 29, was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound in his leg, Estrada said.

The other man, 33, refused medical attention for a graze wound in his leg, Estrada said.

• About an hour earlier, Estrada said, two men were walking in the 7800 block of South Cornell Avenue in South Shore when someone walked up and shot at them.

One of the men, 30, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Estrada said, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left leg.

The other man, 27, was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound in his ankle, Estrada said.

• Around 2:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a 28-year-old man was standing in the 3100 block of North Central Avenue in Belmont Cragin when someone shot at him from a passing SUV, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, Estrada said, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his right leg.

• Just after 1 p.m., Estrada said, a 27-year-old man was shot five times in his buttocks while walking in the 4900 block of West Adams Street in Austin.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member, and he was not cooperating with authorities.

• Around 10:20 a.m. Saturday morning, Estrada said, a 17-year-old was walking in the 500 block of North Mayfield Avenue in Austin when two men shot at him from a passing van.

The man was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his right leg, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, Estrada said.
