RAVENSWOOD — As they head to the picket line Friday, teachers can carbo load and get a jolt of caffeine for free at Spoken Cafe.

"We stand with Chicago teachers .... Breakfast is on us," the cafe's owners Will and Sido Goodwin posted on Facebook.

According to a tentative schedule released by the Chicago Teachers Union, Friday's "day of action" strike — focused on inadequate state funding for education — will begin with teachers protesting at all Chicago Public Schools at 6:30 a.m.

"Teachers, please enjoy a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee on us," Spoken posted on Facebook. "Thank you for all that you do."

Spoken Cafe, 1812 W. Montrose Ave., is open 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
