SOUTHPORT CORRIDOR — Vivial Restaurant and Cocktail Bar closed Sunday, just four months after opening on the Southport Corridor.

The restaurant posted a sign saying "We are closed" on its front window. Owner Nick Spencer did not immediately return a request for comment.

The former Jolly Posh Foods closed in November after five years, and Spencer quickly refurbished it, reopening within weeks as Vivial, 3755 N. Southport Ave. A sign appeared in Vivial announcing its closure. [DNAinfo/Ariel Cheung]

When Vivial opened in December, Spencer said he wanted to shed Jolly Posh's catch-all British market design and narrow his focus. Vivial's highlights included a colorful cocktail menu and dainty versions of traditional dishes like the Sloppy Joe and refined fare like a duck confit with baked beans.

The comfort food eatery had positive reviews on Yelp, with 4½ stars based on 26 reviews.

"Overall this is a wonderfully intimate establishment with superb service and food," user Vicki N. wrote in January. Others called it a "fresh take on fine dining" and a "neighborhood gem."

The restaurant was advertising its happy hour specials and brunch menu as recently as last week.
