ALBANY PARK — Two men were shot, one fatally, in Albany Park Sunday afternoon, police said.

At 2:47 p.m., the men were standing in the 4800 block of North Albany Avenue, near Ainslie Street, when a Hispanic man wearing a dark jacket and a baseball cap shot the men in their abdomens before fleeing on a bicycle, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The men, 26 and 23, were both taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, Pacheco said. The 23-year-old man was later pronounced dead.

Police said both men are documented gang members.

Cmdr. Elias Voulgaris of the Albany Park (17th) Police District immediately posted news of the shooting to neighborhood Facebook pages, stating that the suspect rode up on bicycle, shot the victims and rode off.

"We have a good description of the offender," Voulgaris said, including that the shooter was wearing a Bulls jacket.

No one is in custody, police said.

A CAPS meeting for Beat 1713, where the shooting took place, is scheduled for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, North Park University, 5000 N. Spaulding Ave.
