WEST LOOP — A 28-year-old man walked into Stroger Hospital after being accidentally shot in his face early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 4:40 a.m., the man was sitting in a car with three other people in the 1000 block of West Randolph Street, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The group was passing around a gun when it went off and hit the man in his face, Sedevic said.

The man's condition stabilized after he was treated at the hospital, Sedevic said.

Police could not immediately confirm whether anyone is in custody, or if charges are pending.
