LAKEVIEW — A Lakeview boutique is moving south after the weekend, but there's one last chance to snag some sales.

Standout Style, 1419 W. Belmont Ave., will celebrate its two-year anniversary with a moving party from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. The free event will toast the past with cocktails, giveaways, appetizers and discounts.

Owner Tamika Price declined to say where the shop will move on the South Side, but said she planned to reopen in April.

"Moving was a tough decision because Lakeview is where we first opened our doors," Price said. The new location is larger, with more parking and easier to get to from her home in the south suburbs, she added.

Price opened Standout Style Boutique in March 2014 with the goal of offering "head-turning style" in a range of sizes. She got her start in 2008, when she launched her personal shopping consultancy, A-line Style Services.

In the years since, Price wrote a book and launched an annual charity fashion event, Dangerous Curves Ahead, which provided styling and job workshops for mothers. She also appeared on an episode of the "Rachael Ray" show in 2009 and was named one of the "Top 40 Under 40 Game Changers" by Black Enterprise Magazine.

Price credits her drive and passion for helping others to a brief period of homelessness during her childhood.

"I just always wanted to use that as something that inspires me and makes me driven, because I never want to experience that again," Price said during a WGN News segment.

Standout Style's move comes at a troubled time around Belmont and Southport. Flat Top Grill closed in February after 18 years at the intersection, preceded by shutterings of Dojo Chicago and Burger Boss.

Belmont Avenue west of Southport has a mix of residential and retail, both occupied and vacant. But with a new Whole Foods under construction nearby, officials expect the west Lakeview neighborhood could be revitalized soon.
