UPTOWN — The Uptown Community Health Center has a new name and new location.
The center, which is now called the Sunnyside Health Center, celebrated its grand opening at its new home at 4501 N. Sheridan Rd. The Uptown Community Center was originally located at 4867 N. Broadway.
The center is run by Near North Health Service Corporation, which will continue offering internal medicine, women's health services, mental health treatment, domestic violence outreach and nutrition guidance.
The center is "one of the largest providers of community-based primary health care" in the city and provides "medical services, social services, and nutrition education to medically indigent and uninsured individuals and families," according to its website.
Near North Health Service Corporation services low-income communities, primarily those living in CHA high-rise apartments and abandoned residential buildings.
