UPTOWN — Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) and Lincoln Police District Cmdr. Sean Loughran will host a community meeting on improving safety in the area Wednesday.

"Cmdr. Loughran is focused on improving safety and building strong partnerships with neighbors and community associations in the 20th District," Osterman said in his weekly newsletter. "You will have the opportunity to ask the commander about any safety concerns or issues affecting the community."

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Selfhelp Home, at 908 W. Argyle St.

Last week, Loughran assigned officers to patrol Argyle Street during the evenings.

Thorndale Avenue, Bryn Mawr Avenue and Argyle Street all now have officers assigned to day and evening foot patrols. An officer is also assigned to patrol Devon Avenue during the day.

Osterman has said the extra officers "will positively contribute to public safety in the area."

"We have seen these vibrant commercial districts change in a positive way while having these officers present. This helps the community to get to know [officers] and build relationships while also helping the officers get to know the neighborhoods and residents," Osterman said last week.
