UPTOWN — Police officers will now be assigned day and night foot patrol shifts on Thorndale Avenue, Bryn Mawr Avenue and Argyle Street, Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) announced Friday.

Cmdr. Sean Loughran, of the Lincoln District, announced the new evening shift for Argyle Street last week. The extra foot patrol "will positively contribute to public safety in the area," Osterman said.

"We have seen these vibrant commercial districts change in a positive way while having these officers present. This helps the community to get to know [officers] and build relationships while also helping the officers get to know the neighborhoods and residents," he said.

A daytime foot patrol officer is also assigned to Devon Avenue, the email said.
