Formento's on Randolph will host the inaugural Battle of the 'Balls, crowning one chef meatball master March 6 in the West Loop. At the battle, guests can sample the different variations of chef-made meatballs, from savory Italian style 'balls to globally influenced versions.
Participating chefs include Chris Pandel of B. Hospitality Co.; Sean Pharr of The Bristol; Paul Virant of Perennial Virant and Vie; Joshua Kulp and Christine Cikowski of Honey Butter Fried Chicken; Brian Enyart and Jennifer Jones of Dos Urban Cantina; Abra Berens of Stock Café; Duncan Biddulph of The Winchester; Nathan Sears of The Radler; and food from La Sirena Clandestina.
Tickets, which include tastings, a selection of Goose Island beer, Terlato wine, and a Campari Negroni bar, are on sale now for $60. Tastings are at noon and 2 p.m. March 6.
A portion of the proceeds benefits The Trotter Project, an organization that unites those interested in the culinary arts, along with the hospitality and service industries, through events and programs designed to educate and inspire.
