HYDE PARK — The FBI has linked a Feb. 2 bank robbery in Hyde Park to four other bank robberies by the “Pinball Bandit.”

FBI officials said the man who robbed Chase Bank, 1204 E. 53rd St., shortly before close on Feb. 2 was the same man who robbed the bank Jan. 13 and had been “pinballing” between banks.

“On Jan. 19, the bank robber pinballed between two banks,” said Garrett Croon, a spokesman for the FBI.

On Jan. 19 the black man, who is estimated to be 25-35 years old and 6 feet tall, robbed MB Financial at 5918 N. Broadway and Chase Bank at 1130 W. Taylor St.

He is also believed to be behind a bank robbery on Jan. 25 at the Chase Bank at 1959 W. Division St.

Croon said no suspects were yet in custody for any of the five bank robberies.

The FBI is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in the robberies through its Bandit Tracker website.
