Winter Misery Index: Take A Walk Before Things Get Soggy

By DNAinfo Staff | January 28, 2016 10:15am

THE LOOP — The sun is out, the temps are mild and it's almost Friday.

Jan. 28, 2016 Rating: Not Miserable (2)

Why a 2? Because today ain't so bad, so far. The 10 minute walk in the sun this morning really did wonders. Maybe people are on to something when they say "get exercise occasionally" or "go outside once in awhile." Who knew?

More reasons for misery: Apparently we've been recycling incorrectly for years, rent prices are through the roof and it might rain/snow this afternoon, which is an unfortunate combo.

Why things aren't the worst:  Because we still have endorphins from that morning stroll and tomorrow is Friday, putting us one day closer to a Saturday that's expected to be unseasonably warm. Oh, and this drone footage of the Maggie Daley Park ice ribbon made us downright giddy about Chicago winter for a minute.

What's the Misery Index? Here's a handy explainer.
