NEAR WEST SIDE— A man who had a contentious relationship with his neighbors was found dead Tuesday night, police said.

At 6 p.m., a 62-year-old man was found dead in the 1000 block of West Maxwell Street, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. Police originally said the man was 53 years old. He was later identified as 62-year-old Robert Howard Jr.

The man, who was shot in the head, was pronounced dead on the scene, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody, Pacheco said.

A police source told DNAinfo that the man had called the police previously to report that someone had been drinking and smoking outside of his apartment. The source went on to say that three men were placed in custody for the shooting and another man is wanted in the shooting.
