CHICAGO — One teenager was killed and another wounded in Little Village on Monday, police said.

At 5 p.m., the two teens were in the 3000 block of South Kedvale Avenue when someone walked up to them and shot at them, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The shooter ran away.

A 19-year-old was shot in his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Pacheco said. He was identified as David Martinez, of the 2700 block of South Komensky Avenue, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Martinez was pronounced dead at 5:14 p.m.

A 16-year-old was shot in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

No one was in custody in the shooting, Pacheco said.

Martinez was a documented gang member, police said.
