WICKER PARK — Looking for a way to channel your angst over the recent death of rock icon David Bowie? Celebrate his life the way he would — with over-the-top dance parties.

Set for noon to 3 p.m. on Feb. 13 in Chop Shop's 1st Ward events space, the Chic-a-Go-Go party is free for kids and teens under age 18. Tickets, which are $5 for grownups, can be bought here.

The event will also serve as the first taping for Chic-a-Go-Go's 20th anniversary season. Drawing from legendary dance programs like "Soul Train" and "American Bandstand," Chic-A-Go-Go debuted in 1996 and is one of the most popular shows in Chicago Access Network (CAN-TV) history, its producers say.

Located at 2033 W. North Ave., the 1st Ward Events space is in the back of the Chop Shop.

Through the years, Chicago played a prominent role in Bowie's career, even though he didn't spend much time here.

"David did some of his most interesting things here," said Geoffrey Marsh of Victoria and Albert Museum, one of the lead curators of the traveling "David Bowie Is" exhibit, which had a run at the Museum of Contemporary Art starting in fall 2014.

Another way to celebrate the life of Starman is to head to Logan Square's Crown Liquors, 2821 N. Milwaukee Ave., next weekend.

On Jan. 23, Crown Liquors is hosting David Bowie Night, where you can expect to hear "the hits, the deep cuts and the weird stuff," beginning at 9 p.m.

For fans of "The Labyrinth" and other Bowie flicks, music venue The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., is hosting a free Bowie Brunch Movie Marathon Sunday, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. for folks who are 21 and older.

On the docket: "The Labyrinth," followed by "The Hunger" and ending with "The Man Who Fell To Earth." Food will be served until 4 p.m. Event-goers can buy drinks throughout the day and night.
