LINCOLN PARK — This week commuters can escape the freezing temperatures by riding in a cab for the same price as riding on an L train.
From Tuesday until Friday, Rideshare service Via is letting customers pay $2.25 to book a ride. That's compared to the $5-7 plus tax it usually costs.
Via is only offered in The Loop and part of Lincoln Park and Lakeview. The cabs will travel as far north as Belmont Avenue and as far west as Clark Street, according to Via's website.
To take advantage of the offer, download the app and then book a shared ride, which pairs up customers based on destination.
The rides are only offered during weekdays, from 6:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
The only other city that offers Via, which launched in 2012, is New York City.
