OLD TOWN — It's your last chance to see railroad photography by Jack Delano at the Chicago History Museum.

The exhibit, "Railroaders: Jack Delano's Homefront Photography," is ending Jan. 3 after a record 21-month run at the museum, 1601 N. Clark St.

On display are more than 60 black and white and early color photographs of individual railroaders taken by photographer Jack Delano.

The railroad industry was essential to America's victory in World War II, according to the museum. The country's Office of War and Information sent Delano out to document "railroads and their place in American life" in 1942. The result was 3,000 images, most of them taken in Chicago, which was considered the nation's railroad hub.
