Robbers Steal Child's Hover-Board on Christmas Near UIC, Officials Say

UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — Three robbers stole a hover-board from a child near University of Illinois Chicago campus Friday, according to university officials.

A child was near an alley at 1511 W. Taylor St. in University Village about 12:30 p.m. Friday when three people approached in a silver car, according to a letter from the University provided to DNAinfo Chicago.

One of the robbers got out of the car, showed a gun and demanded the child's hover-board. He was described as a black man with dark complexion, 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. At the time of the robbery he wore blue jeans, a black jacket, black hat and dark hoodie.

The child is not affiliated with the university and the robbery did not take place on campus, the statement said.

Chicago Police are investigating. Anyone with information about this crime should call 311.
