UPTOWN — After 24 years on Clark Street, Anne's Ladies and Kids is closing, the owner said.

The shop at 4509 N. Clark St., which sells formal dresses for women and tuxedos for boys along with accessories, has been open since 1992, but will close due to a lack of business, said owner Hee Kim.

"Business slowed down," said Kim. "The economy is not that good, I guess."

For now, Kim has no plans for after the closing and is considering it as a "kind of retirement."

The store will be offering discounts on all their products for their going out of business sale.

The shop is one of several neighborhood stores to announce its closing in recent weeks. Earlier this year, Uptown staple Shake, Rattle and Read announced it was closing after 50 years on Broadway. Along Clark Street in Andersonville several locally-owned shops and restaurants closed also this year such as Green Genes, the Red Balloon Company and Summerdale on Clark.

While some of the locally-owned stores have shuttered, the area has seen an influx on new options pop up, such as Crossroads Trading, which opened in December, Cantina 1910, Replay Andersonville and Elixir Lounge.
