ANDERSONVILLE — An influx of neighbors stopped by Andersonville's new Crossroads Trading when it finally opened Thursday.

"It was really great. A lot of people in the neighborhood stopped by on their way home. We definitely got some positive feedback from the neighbors," said Morgan Duncan, a manager at the store.

Crossroads Trading, at 5127 N. Clark St., is a buy/sell/trade clothing store. The store allows shoppers to sell gently used clothes for cash or trade credit, with an emphasis on the eco-friendly aspects of the practice. The Andersonville location is the retailer's 33rd store in the U.S.

While the store has clothing for both men and women, the men's section will be a staple for the Andersonville location because the "neighborhood has a lot of men shopping," said Duncan.

According to its website, the company looks "for men’s and women’s in-season, on-trend clothing and accessories in excellent condition."

"Each store is populated with clothes from the neighborhood it inhabits based on their Buy/Sell model. So each store really represents the community it is in," a spokeswoman for the company said.

Clothes on the floor range from about $10-50 and some consignment accessories can retail as high as $100, she said.

Wilson, an Andersonville resident, said the company had been considering the neighborhood for about a year.

The company is "so excited to build a brick & mortar that will supply the community with great designer labels at a portion of the price, and cultivate an inventory that reflects the Andersonville neighborhood," the company said via email.

For the winter season, the store will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
