LAKEVIEW — Good news for those near Lincoln and Diversey who've been missing their deep dish: Gino's East is back.

The restaurant, 2801 N. Lincoln Ave., reopened Nov. 30 after closing in February for renovations. At least some of the work addressed alleged problems involving the Americans with Disabilities Act.

In August 2013, New York resident Christopher Brown filed a federal civil lawsuit against Gino's East, complaining the Lakeview location had multiple barriers to access with his wheelchair, court records state.

Among his complaints were an alleged lack of handicap parking, an inaccessible front door due to its height and a bathroom lacking equipment like a side grab bar or reachable dispensers.

Despite denying the violations in court, Gino's East began renovations in February to address the concerns, court records state. In July, the lawsuit was dismissed.

In addition to its Lakeview location, Gino's East operates four Chicago restaurants (with a Pilsen location coming soon), and 11 others in the suburbs, Wisconsin and Texas.

Gino's East specializes in deep-dish pizza like the Chicago Fire, featuring fire-roasted red peppers and extra hot sausage. Its Chi-talian Stallion is an homage to the classic Italian beef sandwich with Italian beef, roasted sweet peppers and giardiniera.

The pizzeria also has thin-crust pizza, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. In addition to a full bar, Gino's East Lakeview is BYOB optional.
