WEST LOOP — A new fast casual Thai restaurant from the Saigon Sisters will open near their Lake Street restaurant this week.

Bang Chop Thai Kitchen, a fast-casual Thai eatery, opens for dinner service Thursday at 605 W. Lake St. in the West Loop. The restaurant is the fourth from the Saigon Sisters Restaurant Group, headed by Vietnamese-American sisters Mary Nguyen Aregoni and Theresa Nguyen.

The sisters, who are Vietnamese but were raised in Laos and Thailand and came to the U.S. as refugees at a young age, decided to open their latest restaurant after noticing a void for Thai cuisine in the West Loop, said Aregoni, the company's CEO.

"When a space near Saigon Sisters opened up, we jumped on this opportunity," she said. "We are bringing to Bang Chop the same creativity, quality and attention to detail as well as fast and friendly service that has helped make Saigon Sisters a successful and popular brand with a very loyal following."

Bang Chop's menu will feature authentic Thai dishes, including wok-fried and noodle dishes, salads, soups, curry and desserts ranging from $3-15. The new restaurant is B.Y.O.B.

Executive chef Matt Riordan, who also heads the kitchen at Saigon Sisters, will head up the Bang Chop restaurant and Amy Gajewski serves as kitchen manager overseeing day-to-day operations.

Saigon Sisters also operates three namesake Vietnamese restaurants at the Chicago French Market, 131 N. Clinton Ave. in the West Loop; at 567 W. Lake St. in the West Loop; and 251 E. Huron St. in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

The new 30-seat restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows, bamboo wood walls and original Vietnamese artwork, according to a news release.

Starting Dec. 16, the restaurant will also offer lunch service.

Bang Chop Thai Kitchen will be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Pickup, delivery and catering is available.
