LAKEVIEW — It's farewell, falafels and hello foot-longs.

Petite Pita, 3952 N. Sheridan Road, closed as of Nov. 12 and has been undergoing extensive remodeling.

A permit was issued Sept. 14 for $80,000 in renovations for a new fast food restaurant. Northside Management, which is listed on city permit's as the building's owner, said a Subway is expected to open at the location.

Subway officials could not be reached, and Ald. James Cappleman (46th) did not immediately return a request for comment.

Known for its generous portions and easy access next to the Sheridan Red Line ''L'' station, Petite Pita opened in 2011. It leaves behind a colorful strip of restaurants at Sheridan and Irving Park Road, including Pizza Rustica, Los Caminos De Michoacan, Oh! Fusion and Curry Point.

Across the street, the Lakeview Pantry broke ground in August at 3945 N. Sheridan Road on a $3 million renovation.

The inside of Petite Pita, 3952 N. Sheridan Road, was gutted on Nov. 12. A Subway could be replacing it.

Lakeview Pantry's current home is among a handful of businesses that will be bulldozed in June to make way for a mixed-use development slated to cost more than $10 million.
