RAVENSWOOD — The wait is over for Band of Bohemia, which makes its official debut Thursday.
Here's a reason to stop by the culinary brewhouse on opening day: Get a free to-go cup of Dark Matter coffee anytime between 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., 4710 N. Ravenswood Ave.
Not a morning person?
Band of Bohemia opens for bar service from 4:30 p.m. to midnight (sorry, no free to-go drinks), and the kitchen is open 5-10 p.m.
What should you expect from the menu, which has yet to post online?
A few teasers have trickled out via social media. According to one attendee of a preview dinner, his meal included sturgeon, squid with buttermilk, bison tartare, beet and thyme beer and cappuccino with marigold and sea salt.
Five in-house beers are poured from some of the most elegant tap handles in town. In addition to beet and thyme, flavors include grilled apple and tarragon; roasted maitake and toasted basmati rice; and orange, chicory and rye. The one permanent beer on the menu will be the Culinary Noble, Band of Bohemia’s flagship, named for its use of noble hops.
The decor riffs on the Bohemian theme, with an eclectic mix of colors, patterns and textures.
