LINCOLN PARK — Unlike other movie theaters in the city, finding a seat at ArcLight Cinemas won't be left up to chance.

The California-based movie theater chain, which offers all-reserved seating, is opening its first city location on the fourth floor of the New City complex, 1500 N. Clybourn Ave., on Nov. 6.

That means ticket-holders must select seats — outfitted with double-wide arm rests and extra legroom — when they buy online, via apps or automated kiosks.

The 14-screen theater will show first-run films such as "Spectre" and "The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2," according to its website. Movie-goers will be able to grab a bite or a beer at the on-site cafe and bar.

Our advice: Show up on time because ArcLight doesn't show commercials before films and limits the amount of trailers it shows. The theater chain says its "black box design" also helps to eliminate distractions from the screen.

The Lincoln Park theater will be the second ArcLight Cinemas location in the Chicagoland area, with one in suburban Glenview, 1850 Tower Drive.
