PILSEN — A Pilsen art studio is now seeking photo submissions that will be used as part of the neighborhood's Dia De Los Muertos celebration this fall.

ElevArte Community Studio is asking residents with interesting historical photos of their families or Pilsen to participate in "Pilsen, Presente," an oral history project. Photos selected from submissions will be printed on large scale banners and installed on fences, buildings and storefronts in Pilsen, specifically along the community precession route for ElevAte's Dia De Los Muertos event, Muertos de la Risa, on Nov. 2.

The goal of the photo project is to capture and relay neighborhood history through photographs.

Photographs can be submitted through Friday via an online form or by e-mailing info@elevartestudio.org.

The ElevArte team will ask if the photo is 20 years or older, if the photo was taken in Pilsen and about the individuals depicted in the photo.

If the photo is selected as part of the project, ElevArte will ask the person who submitted the photo to bring the original photo to the studio so it can be scanned at a high resolution. Submissions are incomplete until photos are received.
