PILSEN — To celebrate two years in business, Dusek's is throwing a Pilsen-style Oktoberfest party Sunday.

With Blocktoberfest, Dusek's aims to put their own spin on a traditional Oktoberfest celebration with a block party from 2-10 p.m. Sunday directly in front of Thalia Hall at 18th and Allport in Pilsen. The family friendly event is free.

The celebration will include pretzels, sausages and German-inspired dishes by Dusek's team, Old and New World German beers, face painting for kids and live performances.

DJS Ralphi Rosario, Specter, Michael Serifini, Alicia Serrano, Communicator, Mark Grusane and TJ Funky Mama are slated to perform.

Blocktoberfest is sponsored by German brewer Erdinger.

In 2013, owners Bruce Finkelman and Craig Golden worked to restore the Thalia Hall building into a theater and mixed-use development. The reopened venue hosted its first show in May 2014.

Today the building houses Thalia Hall's namesake theater; Dusek's Board and Beer restaurant; Punch House, a basement bar; Modern Cooperative, a reclaimed furniture and vintage store; and Belli's Juicebar.

Opened by John Dusek in 1892 as one of the most the most ornate theaters of its time, Thalia Hall's theater had been closed to the public since the 1960s. The theater was designated an official landmark in the 1980s.
