CHICAGO — People in Illinois have no shame in indulging the chocolate cake shake at Portillo's.
Foursquare, a mobile app that provides local recommendations, identified the most unique "vice" in every state and released a map showing that Wisconsinites crave cheese curds far more than people in other states, Arizonans are about prickly pear margaritas and Michiganders (for some reason) want their burritos smothered.
The vice that defines Illinois is the chocolate cake shake, according to Foursquare data. In Illinois, people crave the dessert 3,893 percent more than people in other states.
That's specifically because of Portillo's Hot Dogs, the Chicago-area chain with a location in River North.
Based on social media, it's clear that for many people, the chocolate cake shake is a guilty pleasure:
I've been craving a Portillo's chocolate cake shake all day and I need to go to Chicago now.
