LINCOLN PARK — It's almost the middle of August, which means the Chicago Food + Wine Festival is quickly approaching.

At the Lincoln Park festival, which runs Aug. 28-30, festgoers will be able to sample and learn about more than 100 brands of wine and spirits, according to a news release.

Expect to see brands from all around the country, including Dark Horse Brewery Co., Fetzer Vineyards and Phillips Distilling Company. For a full list, visit the fest's website.

Eric Hay, beverage development manager for Wirtz Beverage Illinois, designed the cocktail program. Wirtz is the fest's wine and spirit distributor.

The brands will set up booths at one of the fest's main events, the Grand Tasting, which will take place from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Aug. 29 and 30. There, attendees can sample booze or order hand-crafted cocktails, as well as learn about sake from expert Eric Swanson.

In addition to wine and spirits, the fest offers a chef showcase with samples from two dozen noted Chicago chefs including Stephanie Izard and Graham Elliot, as well as cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend.

The fest was made possible through a partnership between C3 Presents, the promoters behind Lollapalooza, chef Tim Love and Christina Grdovic, publisher of Food & Wine Magazine.

An "all-in" ticket for the entire weekend costs $550 per person. Single-day tickets Saturday and Sunday are $175. Tickets include wine, beer and spirits tastings and book signings. For more information, and to buy tickets, visit the fest's website.
