ON FACEBOOK — This is how Chicagoans feel about emoji: 👍.

Facebook recently released a short study about how people show their laughter online, be it through a simple "haha," a hearty "lol" or emoji like crying with laughter (😂).

The ubiquitous social network found that roughly 15 percent of people on their service somehow laughed during a specific week.

Overall, more than half of the social network's laughter was "haha" or "hahaha" or "hahahaha." (You get it.) Those who tend to use emoji are slightly younger than the average "haha"-er.

But in Chicago, nearly 60 percent of users laughed out loud via emoji.

That was the most of all six cities specifically analyzed in the study — Boston, Chicago, New York, Seattle, Phoenix and San Francisco. (The West Coast cities were especially partial to "haha.")

The city that came in second to Chicago's emoji use: New York.
