By Stephanie Lulay | August 7, 2015 6:18am

FULTON MARKET — Ald. Walter Burnett Jr. (27th) will likely approve plans for a new 11-story office building in Fulton Market, he said after a community meeting Wednesday.

Fulton Market-based Shapack Partners presented plans Wednesday to erect the office building, which will be 11 stories plus a penthouse, on a vacant lot at 213-223 N. Peoria St. Retail space would be on the ground floor and about 56 parking spaces would be in the building, developer Jeffrey Shapack said. A green roof and rooftop patio is also planned.

Burnett said the West Loop Community Organization and West Central Association have both expressed support for the project. Neighbors of West Loop have yet to weigh in, he said.

Shapack said the building will be made with brick, glass and steel.

The property,  on the east side of Peoria Street between Lake Street and Fulton Market behind the WeWork Fulton Market building, is currently zoned for commercial use. The developer is requesting a zoning change.

Shapack Partners bought the 213-221 N. Peoria St. property in July 2013.

Amity Packing's loading dock was previously at the site but later demolished.

Shapack presented plans for a neighboring office building at 801-811 W. Fulton Market in February.
