FULTON MARKET — A Chicago developer will present plans Wednesday night for a new office building for an empty lot on Peoria Street at a community meeting.

Ald. Walter Burnett Jr. and the West Loop Community Organization will host a meeting on the project at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Merit School of Music, 38 S. Peoria St. Developer Jeffrey Shapack will present plans for a proposed office building on a vacant lot at 213-223 N. Peoria St.

The developer plans to build a new 11-story plus penthouse office building with retail on the ground floor, according to zoning documents. About 56 parking spaces would be located on four floors of the development and a rooftop patio is also planned.

The property, located on the east side of Peoria Street between Lake Street and Fulton Market behind the WeWork Fulton Market building, is currently zoned C1-1 Neighborhood Commercial District. The developer is requesting a zoning change to a planned development.

Shapack Partners purchased the 213-221 N. Peoria St. property in July 2013. In November 2014, the firm filed for a planned development at the site.

Amity Packing's loading dock was previously located at the site but later demolished.

Shapack presented plans for a neighboring office building at 801-811 W. Fulton Market in February.
