WEST LOOP — Steven Spielberg's classic thriller "Jurassic Park" will be shown under the nighttime sky in the West Loop Tuesday night.

The sci-fi adventure movie that brings dinosaurs back to life will kick off at dusk Tuesday at Mary Bartelme Park, 115 S. Sangamon St.

The 1993 Academy Award-winning film, starring Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Samuel L. Jackson, is based on a fictional remote island in Central America, where a billionaire philanthropist and a team of scientists have created a wildlife park of cloned dinosaurs.

When things go terribly awry, experts and park staff must fight for their lives at every turn, according to the movie's description.

"Jurassic Park" inspired three sequel movies, including "Jurassic World," which is now in theaters. The movie is rated PG-13 and runs 127 minutes.

Before the movie, Steve & Kate's Camp will lead children's activities and gelato from Bar Siena's new walk up concept BomboBar will be offered in the park.

The movie screening is free and open to the public.
