Hockey Fight at Johnny's IceHouse Sends Man in His 60s to Hospital

NEAR WEST SIDE — A man in his 60s was hospitalized after he was punched during a rat hockey game at Johnny's IceHouse East Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

At about 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, the man in his 60s was involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown offender at the hockey rink, 1350 W. Madison St., said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokesperson. At some point, the fight turned physical and the offender struck the victim in the face, according to a report.

The altercation happened during a recreational hockey game at the rink, according to a law enforcement source. Johnny's holds rat hockey games from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays.

The victim was transported to Rush Hospital, where he was treated for a facial laceration, police officials said.

Lemmon said the unknown offender is believed to have fled the scene.

Pete Johnson, general manager of Johnny's IceHouse, declined to comment Tuesday.
